Congratulations to Lorrie Marnell for another great 5&10. She and her family do amazing things for the local running community. We're awfully lucky to have them. --Herb
Well folks, we did it. Another sucessful Ithaca 5 & 10. I'd like to take a moment to thank all of you who made it posiable. There is no way the Ithaca 5 & 10 could be held without you. I thank Jimmy B. and Joe Dabes and Jim Miner for there most excellent race results. They were quick with the 5 mile results and were worked until early afternoon to get acurate 10 mile results. They actually had to re input all runner infomration for the 10 mile race. Thank you Herb, Gerhart and John Conrad and Charlie Fay for your excellent timing skills. Thanks go to Phyllis Radke, Herb Engman and Joe Reynolds for handling a large 80 + number of race day registrations. Thanks to Diane Sherrer and John Beach for handling pre-registration. Thanks to Betsy Ingalls and sons for there help with the first water stop and Simon for help with the fun run. Thanks to Ann Trent and Stacie Benton for Water stop number 2. Thanks to Betsey Martin for dealing with all the food issues. For cutting melon, putting out cookies and begals, etc.. Thanks to my finish line crew headed by Phyllis Radke, George Gravis, Katie Settler and Tessa Baur. Thanks to my boys, for working there favorite Water stop in Stewart Park. I was told that they looked like they were having a lot of fun doing it. Thanks to Alan Lockett and family for running the Fun run, printing labels, helping to stuff race packets, helping with results, picking up the cookies, helping to give out awards, etc.... Thanks to Phyllis Radke for coming up with a unique shirt design which many runners loved... Thanks to Cornell X-country and APO for the wonderful job they did as course marshals. They have come out in numbers the last two years. We have been able to cover ever intersection because of them. Finally special thank to my Honey, Don Tily who puts up with me during the pains and pleasures of organizing such an event and for participating above and beyond the call of duty as no other could. A special note (Bob Congdon said he has never seen anyone accomplish som much in such a short period of time as Don, when he watched him tear down the finish shoot, etc...) It takes many to put on a quality event. Ithaca is very fortunate to have people like yourselves who are willing to go out of their way to help put on the kind of event that the Ithaca 5 & 10 has a reputation for being. Forgive me If I have not mentioned you by name. Your effort did not go unnoticed. --Lorrie
