The story is familiar. You walk a only a few hopeful yards in a new pair of running shoes at a local store. Or, you order a pair online. Either way, after a few miles of running in the shoes, you discover they don't fit quite right or offer the right kind of support. But, you paid good money for them, and you hate to just toss them. Besides, they may be unreturnable. But, you don't want to run in them anymore. And, they're too nice to wash the car or mow the lawn with.
So, what do you do with almost-new running shoes you don't want -- but that aren't so far gone as to be recyclable?
Why not donate them to a worthy cause? Put the Shoe on the Other Foot!
The FLRC collects lightly used running shoes like these, in this shoe donation program. We maintain an inventory of these shoes, which we offer primarily to area track and cross country coaches, for distribution to student runners. We have also distributed shoes to local college students. This program is one way we can continue to support our upcoming athletes and the area's vibrant running community at large.
