Feeling Lucky? It Might Be You Who Wins a Trip to Camp

Summer camp—just like when you were a kid, but this time with beer (if you're not still a kid)! Will your essay be the winner? Intrigued? Read on:

Last August I attended an awesome trail running camp in Claremont, NH. Perhaps you read my report in the newsletter in the October 2004 issue of the newsletter? The camp owners have very generously offered to give away a session at running camp to a fortunate FLRC member this year. The value of this award is around $400.

This is open to all members of FLRC. Entries must be received by April 22, 2005, and a winner will be decided by three members of the board in early May. Submit entries to:

TimIngall@hotmail.com
or mail to
Tim Ingall
68 Sperry Lane
Lansing, NY 14882.

Answer something along the lines of the following in 250 words or less: What will a week at running camp do for me? or Who died and made me king/queen/prince/princess of the trail? or What will I do to bribe the selection committee? Okay, just answer the first of these three: What wondrous stuff will a week at running camp do for me?

Tim will not be a judge, and all entries will be reviewed anonymously by the judges.

Kids that want to enter must write their own essay, not a parents' contribution! But adults that want to enter can ask their kids for advice :-)

Visit www.claremonttrails.com for more information on the camp.

Camps are open to middle school kids, high school kids, and adults according to the following schedule:

Grades 6–8: July 17–22
High school (session 1): July 24–29
High school (session 2): July 31–Aug 5
High school (session 3): Aug 14–19
Adults: Aug 10–13

We ask that the winner of the award commit to going and also write a report soon thereafter for the newsletter, and note that the winner is responsible for his/her transportation to/from camp. Good luck to everyone! I had such a good time that I plan to go again this summer, and I hope others from the local running community will join me.
