The FLRC Board of Directors recommends that we eliminate the half-year membership option. This requires a change in our By-Laws, which in turn obliges us to bring this item in front of the entire membership for a vote as follows:

Katie ran the Nashville Country Music Marathon in a
personal-best 2:59.02—her first time sub-3. Katie was eighth overall
among women and first American. Way to go!
The Empire State Games are in nearby Binghamton July 28–August 1. Entry deadlines for masters athletes as well as qualifiers for scholastic and open divisions are coming up in June.
Masters track & field specialists (ages 30-up) must do it yourself at regional club track & field meets. I will have masters entry booklets at our June 8 meet at the Cornell Outdoor Track. There are also summer meets in Syracuse (www.syracusechargers.org), Binghamton (www.triplecitiesrunnersclub.org), and Rochester (www.gvh.net). Go to those sites for the respective track schedules and rosters of events.
Applications for masters competition must be submitted by June 21. There are the usual track & field events, plus a 10K road race on the final day of the Games (Recreation Park).
Scholastic and open athletes must attend designated qualifiers. Central NY residents who wish to compete must attend the following trials:

The 26th annual Utica Boilermaker 15K is set for July 11, and you have until June 12 to take advantage of the $30 early-registration fee. Beginning July 13, the 15K fee rises to $40.
The fees for the 5K and 8K Walk will also rise from $15/$20 and $10/$15, respectively, after June 13.

A track & field instructional camp covering sprints, jumps, long distance, and cross country for youth grades 7–12 will be held at the Ithaca High School track. General conditioning for all running sports. There will be hands-on, individual coaching, with excellent coach-to-athlete ratios. The camp emphasizes the teaching of correct running form in every event and at every distance, uses videotaping for feedback, teaches you how to run faster, and helps you understand why you can run faster. The three founding coaches are USA Track & Field certified coaches.
Schedule: June 28–July 29, 6–8 pm, Monday through Friday.
Fee: $150; full and partial scholarships are available.

Race director Jim Chely will hold a free run-through for the Tanglewood Tanglefoot Trail Runs (5- and 10-milers), Sunday, June 13 at 10 am. The actual race date is June 20.
For Ithaca-area runners who are not familiar with the Tanglewood Nature Center in Elmira, Chely will meet you at 9 am, June 13, at the Harley Dealership, on Rt. 13 in Alpine Junction and lead you to the race site.
Jim wants feedback on the trail and suggestions for water stops.

The Finger Lakes Trail Conference and Cayuga Trails Club are hosting a series of monthly hikes that, in total, will cover 52 miles of the Finger Lakes Trail over the following dates: May 8, June 12, July 10, Aug 14; Sept 11, and Oct 9. Groups are divided up by desired hiking pace. A picnic and ceremony will be held at the end of the series to recognize individuals who complete all hikes.
