30th Great American Heart Run/Walk at Utica College

I'm Wally Powers, and I've been an FLRC member for a dozen or so years. You've probably seen me at a few races-- tall, skinny, with white stripes in my hair (it's all natural, honest!). On 2/28, I'm participating in the 30th Great American Heart Run/Walk at Utica College. It's one of the largest AHR/W events in the country, raising over $1 million annually. I'd like to ask FLRC members if they'd like to donate to my run. I'll be doing 5 or 10 miles (depending on how my training progresses).

Last year, I ran in a red dress. This year, if donations exceed $500, I plan to wear my 1975 wedding suit (three-piece, lemon yellow with bell bottoms and wide lapels). To sweeten the pot, I will raffle off over a dozen prizes and gift certificates that have been donated by Ithaca merchants and restaurants. Each $5 donation gives you two chances. We runners are fortunate that we have strong hearts, but we all know a friend or loved one that can't say the same. I'm running in memory of my stepfather, who suffered and died in 2002 from congestive heart failure.

If anyone would like to give, please send a check (made out to "American Heart Association") to me at 26 Valley View Road, Spencer, NY 14883-9631: or you may drop it off at my office (NYS Dept. of Labor, 171 E. State St. 2nd Floor, Center Ithaca Bldg.). Email: mrwally@twcny.rr.com.

Deadline is Wednesday 2/25. I really appreciate your help. (Please include your email address so I can send you a thank you note and picture of me in my running threads).
