Congratulations to coach Ben Cardamone and the Southside (Elmira) High School girls' 4 x one mile relay team. The squad is ranked 5th in the U.S. in the April 2003 issue of Track & Field News. Southside's time is 21:05.89. Saratoga Springs is No. 1 with 20:24.37. Rankings, mostly indoors, are for the 2002-2003 season. Ben brought several of the Elmira-area runners to our indoor track meets.

Former IAC and Section 4 runner Molly Huddle of Elmira set a pending junior (19-under) American record in the 5,000-meter track race. Huddle clocked a 15:36.95! Based on that time, Huddle is ranked 9th in the world and 4th American in the outdoor 5,000-meters (track). Rankings will change as the season progresses.
