The New York City Marathon officials are holding an unprecedented second lottery to fill their 30,000* field of runners for their Nov. 3 race. Fewer international runners, which usually number 10,000, are coming to New York due to fears from Sept. 11. Race officials have sent letters to another 5,000 marathon hopefuls, and expect about 2,000 to accept. See www.nyrrc.org.
