Great Heron 5K Road Race

A plug for race director Sally Scatton, my T-burg neighbor, who directs this spring race. The race date is April 13, 9 a.m., beginning at Hobart and William Smith College in Geneva. The Big Bird starts and ends on the college track, with a nice rolling course through scenic local neighbhorhoods. Plenty of friendly students and locals make this well-done event a great opener for your 5K season, reports my co-editor Betsy, who enjoyed it last year.

T-shirts to the first 300 registered runners; the fees are $12 pre-registration and $15 after April 8. Proceeds benefit the fight against breast cancer, and Sally has picked the Ithaca Breast Cancer Alliance to receive this year's funds.
