Remembering Barb Booker
It is with great sadness that we tell you that Barb Booker passed away June 9 in the Reconstruction Home in Ithaca, where she has spent the last nine years battling Alzheimer's disease. Barb was 66.
In our next newsletter issue, I will have a memorial column prepared telling all of you about Barb and her contributions to our running community and to the local women's running movement. Barb was an outstanding masters runner and teammate; the first female president of FLRC and the first Ithaca 5 & 10 director after Jim Hartshorne stepped down from his multitude of duties.
We are enclosing her obituary in this issue.
The Finger Lakes Runners Club will make a contribution in her memory to one of the charities listed by her family.
If anyone has any memories you'd like to have published, please email them to me as soon as possible.
We offer Barb's husband, Jack, and children Jim, Dave and Sue Booker, our deepest sympathies.
An informal memorial picnic will be held in August, details to be announced.
