Angels & Wheaties
I had an encounter with an angel today.
I drove to the Salvation Army HQ in downtown Ithaca today to deliver our WDF 5K food donation box. We didn't collect as much as last year, but Lorrie and I decided to add the big box of the "Wheaties-that-wouldn't die" that have been making the rounds of all area road races. [The food is used by ACT - Area Congregations Together.]
I went indoors, where they make the hot lunches for the needy, and was directed to an angelic looking woman, who was positively glowing with good will. She was sooooo happy for the food, as I explained where it came from. She asked me my name, and was overflowing with love for the gift of food before her, no matter that I was apologizing that it wasn't more.
She asked what club I was from, how many runners we had, then nodded at the cereal. "That's especially nice," she said, smiling.
I was choked up, and drove away as if I had just spoken with an angel. It made my day!
Thanks to everyone who donated food at our race.
