April 2002 Newsletter

News Notes

Nikki Kimball, the overall winner of the 2001 FLT Fifties 50-miler, has been named to the 2002 U.S. 100K Road Ultra Team.

The Great Heron 5K, set for April 13 in Geneva, has been USATF distance certified.

The 18th annual Guthrie Gallop, May 11, in Sayre has tweaked a few things. The starting times have been moved one hour earlier; the 10K starts at 9 a.m.; the 5K run at 10 a.m., the 5K walk 10:05. The entry fees have gone up slightly, but proceeds benefit a domestic violence charity. You can now run both races for the price of one entry fee: $15.

Mid-pack, back-pack and weight-class awards categories have been added. And, gender equality has been injected into the 5K and 10K road race age groups. Instead of T-shirts, runners will receive a microfiber, wicking shirt.

For information, call Guthrie Sports Med at (570) 882-4808. Entries will be available at Skunk Cabbage.
