A Toast to Wineglass

As you'll see by the lengthy local results of runners who trekked to Corning on Oct. 7, we all love the Wineglass Marathon. Many thanks and congratulations to Jackie McAtee (new race director), Dr. Donald Phykitt (medical director), Mike Hurley (who trained beginners) -- all three from Guthrie Healthcare/Sports Medicine who saved the race and the Guthrie Gallop -- and who are active members of FLRC; and friends Bill Taylor and Tom Knapp of the Wineglass RC -- both former RDs but still involved up to their elbows, plus their team of volunteers. You all did a fantastic job, rave reviews heard all around -- and we appreciate you!

Also thanks to featured guest and nice guy Joe Henderson, who traveled to Watkins Glen HS with Cathy Troisi and Bill Taylor to talk with the WG XC team. Then, Henderson walked the Gorge. Henderson has written a nice tribute to "small marathon" Wineglass. If we can get permission to print it next month, we will.
