A Special Spectator at Steamtown Reports
Earl Steinbrecher Jr. beat James Oigara...it was so exciting!!! Just near the hill at the finish, Earl passed James, then James passed Earl, then Earl sprinted and passed him. A PR at 2:46:58.
I was in the car, waiting at a light in Scranton to go and park. I had been at the second viewing point on the course where I saw both Earls....and figured I would miss Earl Jr.'s finish as I waited for Earl Sr. to pass the second point. It was so exciting. I saw James go by and then all of a sudden, I saw my son flying by. I rolled down the window and yelled at him. He heard me and waved. He was really happy!!!
And it was great to see my honey finish..at age 61, he did it in 3:49:58. He broke 3:50 so he was really happy. I am so happy the training is over. It really was a long summer!!! He is just pleased to be able to run and I am so very proud of both of them.
