Wineglass Too: Lorrie's Weekend

Well, I did my two favorite things during the October 6th weekend.. No, not that... I went plant shopping and ran the Wineglass marathon. I found out Thursday morning that the Wineglass Marathon offered me a complimentary entry for their 20th anniversary event held this weekend. My legs were feeling rested after running reduced mileage since the Adirondack marathon of two weeks ago. My Achilles was holding its own after last weekend's Festival of Races. So I figured what's one more?

What a great day to run. It was cold with a tailwind most of the way. It never rained. I ran strong and felt good the entire race. At 18 I said to myself "You feel too good", at 20 I said "something is wrong, you should be tired." At 22 I said "Am I not working hard enough?" At 24 I said "this is so much easier than Adirondack." I ran 1:39 for the 1/2 and finished in 3:21:39. Slowing some but not too bad. I enjoyed the course. It was good to be back after not running this event for 5 years. Wonderful volunteers, good food at the finish and unique glass finishers medallions for all. I finished 4th women overall, 1st masters. Won $250.00, a bottle of Champagne that I immediately gave to "my honey" and a big plaque for the wall.

Sandy Fitterer ran a new marathon PR of 3:44. Tom Power ran a 2:54, taking 2nd in the 50 + age group. Diane Sherrer ran a 4:12 and Katie Danner ran a 3:42. Our friends the Gezzler brothers ran as well. John finished in 2:53, 2nd in his age group and John ran 4:0X after spending just two weeks training for it. Shirley Woodiford's team took first Masters Women's team again. It was a good day for FLRC.
