Congrats to Phyllis Radke

Acting Building Commissioner Phyll won the city's (of Ithaca) annual recognition award in October. As the Ithaca Times reported, Radke had the unenviable task of inheriting a department mired in controversy, but nonetheless has overcome many hurdles during her tenure there.

What they didn't mention is that Phyllis broke her back in June, and continued to run her city office from the hospital bed -- despite a girdle back brace which shut off circulation to her brain.

And, of course, the gummi bear in the hospital toilet incident has already been reported here. Now that's over, get back on the roads running, Phyll!

Radke donated her prize -- a $100 gift certificate -- to the New York State World Trade Center Relief Fund.
