Coming Up… (And Not!)

The NYC Marathon will be wrapped up via a tape-delayed NBC creation, Nov. 4 at 3 p.m. I'd check local TV listings, and not expect too much.

While FLRC continues to debate our annual calendar (we'll hopefully have it for the Dec. issue), Mark Elmore (our state's snowshoe guy) has the season's snowshoe racing and qualifying schedule down on paper. Clip & save it if you're looking for snowshoe events.

Look closely, and you'll find that Mark has added our FL Snowshoe race to the NYS Snowshoe Championship Series (think trail runners rankings, but on snow). The calendar includes Western Mass., the Catskills, Adirondack regions and ESG/qualifiers. Jim Miner tells me that the Winter Senior Games (not to be confused with the ESG) are canceled.

As we go to press, we don't have the entry form to publish yet. But, Ed Stabler's beloved Last Chance Trail Run & Breakfast at Highland Park is set for Dec. 22. Mark that on your calendars.

Although it's been floating around the TCRC website, and still may be, I have it from direct sources that the Big Buns 50K and Last Chance Marathon, originally set for Dec. 15 at Otsiningo Park is CANCELED!
