Team in Training Update

Anyone who's thinking about signing up for the Leukemia Society's Team in Training marathons this fall (Marine Corps and Dublin) will be pleased to hear that well-known local distance runner Harland Bigelow will be serving as the Southern Tier coach. He can be reached at (607) 692-4916 (his home phone in Lisle) or via e-mail at HarlandB@em.cortland.edu.

Kick-off meeting for participants will be June 13th, location to be announced. Penguin wannabes, take note-- if anyone can get you through those 26.2 miles, it's gotta be our comeback king Harland!

NYC Marathon Lottery

For the rest of us, the New York City Marathon lottery will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 21 at Rockefeller Center. For those indecisive runners, there is still time to get their applications in before the June 1 deadline by going to http://www.nycmarathon.org

The majority of the starting field of 30,000 for the November 4 race will be chosen at the lottery, which will once again be hosted by Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, who will pick the first ten lucky lottery winners. Runners can find out if they need to lace up their sneakers and begin their training runs on Saturday, June 23, by logging onto http://www.nycmarthon.org
