Fleet Feet Sports Ahead of the Pack in Runners Services

Fleet Feet Sports, located at 3453 Erie Blvd. East, in DeWitt is the new sporting/running store to get some very positive spin. Ed and Ellen Griffin, and the store staff is going the extra mile in supporting Central NY road/trail/track running -- including displaying FLRC event applications. They also turned up at Mt. Goat, and went on-course to provide runners with Gatorade and PowerGel.

Visit the store, and they'll do a free video stride analysis -- and bring along your current running and walking shoes for the consultation.

They have also launched a very newsy e-mail subscription (free), that comes out about once a week. To subscribe, e-mail ffrunsyr@dreamscape.com, and request to have it sent to you. I find it very helpful, and full of late-breaking news and a calendar. A Web site will be up and running soon.

To call Fleet Feet, dial 315-446-1444.

[Ed. note: Just a word on one of my many pet peeves. Local running -- actually sporting goods -- stores want you to buy their array of running shoes and clothes, but they don't cooperate when you ask them to put out entry forms as a public service. Some stores hide them behind the cash register, others throw entries into the garbage as soon as they are offered to management; some just say NO. Kudos to Wildware and Cayuga Mountain Bike, both in downtown Ithaca, who cooperate with FLRC all the time. Your mission, if you decide to accept it, is to go into local sporting stores and voice your opinion on this matter to management. Do it wherever you live, because it's standard operating procedure all over CNY. Just do it : somebody needs a wake-up call!]
