Diane Party Report

Well, if you missed Diane Sherrer's 50th birthday party on May 3rd, you missed a great time. But even if you were among the 50 or so attendees, there was so much going on that you probably missed something anyway!

Among the highlights: Diane's face when she was ushered into the Women's Community Building to face a huge crowd of fans instead of the couple of friends she'd expected to meet for dinner at the Moosewood… Patti Ford's face when she realized that it WASN'T a costume birthday party and that she was the only one dressed up as a member of the Woodstock generation… wow, somebody brought their good china!… trying to fit everybody onto the staircase for the group photo… seeing the Scottish Blue Harriers without their blue face-paint for once… all the food that Mom used to make-- and then some… who made that great pie?… signing in on the "birthday wishes big board"… Cathy Troisi's one-of-a-kind present all the way from Norway (via Boston and Seneca Falls) … Joe Familio driving down from Oswego (and being among the first arrivals!)… Marget Betz's husband saying that no, they didn't have anything more important to do that evening than come in from Conklin…and David Weiss coming up from Corning even though he'd just come back from yet another long business trip ... trying to keep all the birthday candles on the chocolate cupcakes from burning out while everybody got one before singing 'Happy Birthday'… tons of Boston Marathon souvenirs to encourage Diane to make this her year to get there… and Diane's speech thanking people for being part of her running "family".

Special thanks to the "secret birthday party" committee for making it all possible: Sue Aigen, Pam Carlucci, Lorrie Marnell, Jim Miner, Dorothy Sholeen, and Cathy Troisi!
