Congrats to...

John Beach, who won a "Good Neighbor Award" presented by the Ithaca Neighborhood Housing Service. John was nominated by Dorothy Sholeen, and this is what was written about John in the award announcement:

"A lifelong resident, John has made public service both his career and his calling. He has worked for Tompkins County for over 30 years and has also been an extremely active volunteer in the community. He is currently the head of Tompkins County Stop DWI; and has also been a volunteer firefighter and very involved in school issues.

He has been a "son" to his elderly neighbors for many years. Recently, he has been appointed to serve as a regular member of both the BPW and the Planning Board. John has put his heart and soul on the line over some very contentious issues and because of his actions there have been important results achieved that will benefit neighborhood residents all over Ithaca."

Joe Reynolds, who was honored as "Coach of the Year" at the Watkins Glen High School annual awards banquet held in June. Reynolds is the head coach of cross country and boys' track & field. The Coach of the Year award is voted on by the entire school body, and is presented by the Sports Booster Club. Each year, one woman or man is selected based on his/her dedication and passion for sports and youth in the school district.
