Should You Join the USAFT?

USATF does very little for the "average joe and jane" among us. However, there are two good reasons to sign up every year. First, if you're a high-caliber runner who competes in regional and national events (team and individual) and have a chance of taking home some cash. Second, if you've ever hit the pavement while running, you may regret not having this extra coverage. USATF offers insurance to runners traveling to and from -- and during -- sanctioned events.

So, if you want to join for the 2001 season, I have applications provided by Niagara rep Becky Heuer. I'll carry them around to events indoors and out. Or write: USATF Niagara, P.O. Box 387, Forestville, N.Y. 14062. The fees are $15 for adults; $12 for youth. Send a SASE if you request something from Heuer.

FLRC's code number is 063; I don't know High Noon's number.

FYI: I believe we have a XC masters national championship coming our way in the fall, thanks to GVH; as always, Freihofer's National open & masters 5K is another reason if you're fast enough for the loot.
