Tussey Mountainback 50-Mile Relay (and Ultra)

The date is Oct. 13, and the location is Tussey Mtn. Ski Resort & the Rothrock State Forest, in Boalsburg, Pa. (near State College). You'll run on mountain roads.

Starting times: 8:30 a.m. for relay teams; 7:30 a.m. for ultra participants. Cut off: no later than 5:30 p.m.

It's a 50-mile relay race through central Pa. during peak foliage season. Teams compete in a 12-leg event, with race distances varying from 2.8 to 6.3 miles. You can rotate legs (you don't need 12 runners); and you must have your own support van.

There are several team divisions based on team size and gender. The race fee is $40 for the ultra; then rising scales depending on how many runners on your team.
