The Syracuse Festival of Races is set for Oct. 1 at Manley Field House at SU (see enclosed entry). The race hosts separate 5Ks for men and women. Race director Dave Oja challenges FLRC & High Noon to field some team competition. Team age groups include open, and masters (40-49); (50-59); (60-69); (70-79) and (80-plus). This is your opportunity to go head to head with some of the nation's finest, as well as an opportunity to enjoy the sight of literally hundreds of local schoolkids doing the 3K. Trail types will enjoy the Alpine Classic 8.5 Miler, slated for 10 a.m. on Sept. 23 at the Jordan Fall Festival Grounds. The entry fees are $12 by Sept. 19; $15 race day; T-shirts to the first 100 entrants. If you ran either the Boilermaker or the Mountain Goat, you can bring a friend to the 2000 Alpine Classic for free (but no T-shirt for the freebee).
