RRCA National Run to Work Day: Sept. 15!
We won't mention any names, but someone is already doing this. It's simple: you run to work. That's it. And, don't forget the soap and clean clothes. If you do run to work, let Sherrer know.
For information, call the RRCA at (703) 836-0558, or look at their website: www.rrca.org.
Aqua Jogger for Use
Thanks to Hanne Hoppe and John Bott, who just moved to Northern California, we have a donation of an aqua jogger for anyone who would like to borrow it. I'm going to take it to Katie Stettler (equipment master) soon, and that's where you can find it. Call ahead if you'd like to go over to pick it up.
In the News
Local residents should pick up the Fall edition of the "Ithaca Child," which appears quarterly in Tompkins County (it's free). This edition has an excellent article on Terry Habecker on page 34, called "Who is Terry Habecker? And what's his game?" by Jay Wrolstad.
Among other things, Habecker discusses (in a very polite manner) the dismal state of physical education in our school systems.
Those of us who majored in physical education find the current trends to be sickening.
A rose among the thorns, physical educator Habecker (and Bob Congdon is another excellent example) is a outstanding educator, coach and sportsman. Take a look at the article if you get a chance.

Fundraiser Needed
We need someone to volunteer to raise funds for the 21st annual women's Hartshorne Memorial Masters Mile, set for sometime in January. Thanks to the efforts of Lorrie Marnell and the generosity of local runners: FOWS -- (you know who you are), we were able to provide equal prize money and other perks to elite female athletes. Actually, everyone made out very well last year, thanks to women's committee members Cathy Troisi, John Whitman, Lorrie and Diane.
If you're willing to help, call Lorrie at 255-8877. It's a nasty job, but somebody has to do it.
