December 2000
| Quote of the Month:
"If my husband behaves well, he gets the car." --Ludmila Petrova, of the Soviet Union, women's winner of the 2000 New York City Marathon (2:25:45). Petrova was explaining how her training has improved since she no longer has to keep house, wash and cook for a family with girls ages 12 and 7 -- and a husband who did nothing to help her. Now, because he is helping her at home, she says, part of the victory belongs to him. Petrova won $90,000, a new Pontiac and a motor scooter (which she'll keep for herself). |
