Last Chance Trail Run & Breakfast

Entry is enclosed, because this is a favorite event of local trail runners. The date is Dec. 23, at Highland Forest in Fabius. You can start any time between 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. The first pancake is served at 9 a.m.; the last at 11 a.m. This is low-key, strictly fun stuff. If it snows, bring the skis and snowshoes, too.

Last Chance Marathon & 50K of the Year

Triple Cities RC will host the Big Buns certified 50K and marathon -- more or less, it's up to you. It will be held December 30 at 9:00 a.m. in Otsiningo Park in Binghamton. I expect there will be a fee this time around, but it won't be much. You'll run repeat loops in the park (about 2-miles around), and officials will keep your splits, count your laps and publish official results. It's low-key, but well done.
