Hi, All,

Bill Clinton called me several days ago -- he was thanking major contributors for their donations to his 1996 re-election campaign -- he said he'd been pretty busy until several months ago, but was catching up on his thank you's. He thanked me profusely for my $19.96 donation in 1996 and said that he was sending me a personally autographed photo of himself that I would treasure immensely. I thanked him.

He said he's been pretty bored after leaving the White House and needed some excitement in his life. He said he'd heard that we have a pretty exciting Sunday morning running group, and that joining us would probably provide all the excitement he'd need for a while. He said he'd like to join us this Sunday (with a couple of Secret Service guys).

I told him that we planned to run trails this Sunday -- this made him even more excited. He said that he loved running the gentle park trails through Washington DC in the past. I tried to explain that the trails we run are rough, hilly, and tough -- and that there were no McDonald restaurants along the way. He asked if there was a Mickey Dee's nearby -- I explained that there were a couple in Cortland -- he said that would suffice -- he'd stop at them before and after the run.

So the plan is to meet at the top of the Rossiter Spur on Hauck Hill Road this Sunday, April 29 at 8:30 AM. Directions -- From downtown Dryden go east 4 mi. on Rte 392. At bottom of hill turn right on W. Meeting House Rd. After 0.3 mi. turn left on Daisy Hollow Rd. soon to become Babcock Hollow Rd. After 1.4 mi. turn left on Hauck (Hill) Rd. Follow this dirt road 0.7 mi. up a steep hill to the very top of the hill -- Rossiter Spur (orange blazed) goes south from this point. We'll run the 15 km figure 8 (Forest Frolic course, but backwards -- starting south down the Rossiter Spur and continuing straight through the figure 8 both times). You can do 9, 13, 18 or more miles)

BTW, Bill said to encourage as many women as possible to come out for the run. He's been lonely lately as Hillary seems to be spending all her time in Washington. He said he values female companionship greatly.

And remember, 8:30 AM and no lawyer jokes or ex-president jokes are allowed!

Java Joe

P.S. I just today received the personally autographed photo of Bill, and will bring it this Sunday for all to admire.

Comments from David Rossiter:

Joe,

I am honoured that Bill Clinton will be trying to run on my spur. However, I doubt very seriously if he can do nine miles... nine women is probably more his speed... Make sure to bring several boxes of donuts and Little Debbies (and I mean the cupcakes... to be specific, the cupcakes made out of flour...) as emergency rations.

However, it is disappointing that you could not also attract Hillary. She promised to visit all 62 New York counties, which she did, but does she understand the reality of Virgil Mountain? Not to mention the bigfoot /Virgil Mt Monster constituency which is at least as important as the New Square clan...
