Minutes of FLRC Executive Board Meeting

November 12, 2003


Present: Diane Sherrer, Lorrie Tily, Don Tily, Jim Bisogni, Tom Meyer, Jeffrey Juran, Jim Miner, John Sholeen, Sue Aigen, Tim Ingall,, John Whitman, Evan Kurtz, Tom Scharff, Joe Reynolds, Chris Beach, Herb Engman, Casey Carlstrom and Sandy Fitterer

Lorrie called the meeting to order at 5:35

Minutes of the September 10, 2003 meeting were approved.

Race Reports:

5&10: : Lorrie reported one injury caused by a vehicle backing out of a driveway. The injury was not serious. The race netted $961.56. There were 154 finishers in the 5 mile and 107 in the 10 mile race.

Danby Down and Dirty: Sue reported that there were 85 finishers with plenty of good volunteers. Prizes were pumpkins. The race netted $318.45. There was one injury of unknown severity. Ice as an addition to our first aid supplies was discussed.

CSMA Kazoo 5K Race: Tom Scharff reported a good race with 72 runners. The race netted between 500 -600 dollars. Their were plenty of volunteers including Ithaca Police and volunteers form On Site Services.

Upcoming Races:

December and January Track meets: Tim distributed an announcement listing events and dates of this winter's indoor track meets.

Finances:
John reported that the checking account balance is $4100, the scholarship fund is at $2900 and the long term investment is at $6300. John mentioned that expenses just about equaled income for the past year.

Membership:
Casey reported that there were 6 new members since last report. A discussion whether e-mail renewal was appropriate lead to the conclusion that this method of renewal was okay if the details could be worked out. John Sholeen suggested that we put membership due dates on newsletter labels.

Club Historian:
Herb announced that due to increased commitments to his newly elected position as town councilman he would not be able to attend further board meetings although he will continue to serve as club historian.

Web Page:
Tom reported that the web page is still working well and going strong.

Equipment:
Jim Miner announced that he is resigning his position as equipment manager. Tom Scharff has agreed to take over these responsibilities. Equipment will now be stored at CSMA.

VP Reports:

Trails: Joe Reynolds moved that we donate $700 to Wilderness Search and Rescue for their services at our trail races. John Whitman seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously.

Track: No report

Roads: Jim Miner and Lorrie noted that several races are in need of certification. Joe Reynolds moved that the CSMA 5K Kazoo race be added to our race calendar for next year. John Whitman seconded the motion. Jim Miner added an amendment that we make the race as a "standard" FLRC race subject to the standard insurance, scholarship and other club policies. Approval was unanimous.

Other Business:

Final corrections/additions were made to the 2004 race calendar.

Lorrie is going to ask Tony Ciccone to develop a slate for our yearly election of officers.

Diane passed around a get well card for George Gavras who was in a car accident. She is sending him a fruit basket.

Sue continued the discussion of Club running apparel.

Meeting was adjourned at 7:10pm.
